Buses have been confirmed for today, 9/19/24, for 7th/8th B volleyball in Deer Lodge and 7th/8th grade football in Anaconda. Buses departs DMS at 2 pm today.
7th grade B volleyball will play a few extra matches today as Deer Lodge has a large number of girls out this year. Volleyball games are played at the CPC Center at 444 Montana Avenue in Deer Lodge starting at 4 pm for 7th grade followed by 8th grade.
Both 7th and 8th grade football play in Anaconda at Mitchell Stadium located on West 5th Street. 7th grade plays Anaconda at 4pm followed by 8th grade playing Butte Central at 5 pm.
Hello DMS parents/guardians, this is Mr. Rogers sending out information regarding bussing for DMS activities.
Unfortunately, there continues to be a shortage of bus drivers at BCHS. Because of this, it has and will likely continue to negatively impact activities at DMS. After consulting with BCHS/SD10 administrators and others, I wanted to send you information as to how this issue will be addressed moving forward.
First, we will only schedule one bus for any activity trip and hope the high school can get one driver.
Second, if a bus driver is not available for an activity trip, which is a distinct possibility, I will work with the other school to see about the possibility of changing the date and/or having that team come to Dillon for that scheduled event.
Third, if we are unable to have a team travel to Dillon and/or reschedule the event, then unfortunately we will have to cancel that activity trip and it will likely not be made up. If an activity is canceled or if the venue has changed, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Again, this situation is not ideal, however is one that I take very seriously. I will continue to do what I can to help address this issue. We hope the high school is able to hire more bus drivers soon to alleviate this situation moving forward.

Here is the schedule for the football jamboree at Butte East today.
A couple of activity reminders as we get toward the end of the activity week. No 7th or 8th grade volleyball practice after school today. As a reminder, the 7th and 8th grade A volleyball games were changed to home next Tuesday, 9/17 at 4:30 and 5:30 in the DMS gym (7th plays first). 7th and 8th grade cross country runners leave at 10:45 am today for their meet in Anaconda, slated to start at 1:00 pm as Washoe Park. 6th grade cross country has a regular scheduled practice today after school. Tomorrow, Saturday, 9/14, cross country will have a voluntary practice at 2:30 pm in place of the canceled practice this week. 6th grade volleyball and 7th/8th grade football have a regular practice after school. We hope the smoke and schedule cooperates a little better next week for activities!
8th grade volleyball will have a morning practice at 6:45 am on Friday, September 13th. Volleyball players will practice in the DMS gym and will need to come into the building through the front doors of DMS.
Volleyball at home tomorrow against Butte Central. 7th grade games in the DMS Gym and 8th grade games in the Parkview Gym. B teams play first at 4:30 pm followed by A teams at 5:30 pm. See you there!!
There have been a couple of changes to the 7th and 8th grade DMS volleyball schedule. The tournament in Clancy for A teams has been canceled on 9/28. Also, we have flip flopped dates with Butte Central due to a lack of bus drivers. Butte Central will play A teams in Dillon on 9/17 and A teams will go to Butte Central on 10/1. Finally, there will be NO practice for 7th grade volleyball this Friday, 9/13.

The cross country meet in Anaconda has been rescheduled for Friday, September 13th. There is also a bus available that will leave the school at 10:45 am. 6th grade runners will have a scheduled practice on Friday after school.

Good morning DMS cross country parents/guardians, this is Mr. Rogers sending out a couple of updates. First, the cross country meet in Anaconda has been canceled today due to smoke. This meet has been rescheduled for this Friday, September 13th at 1:00 pm. If a bus is available, the bus will depart DMS at 10:45 am on Friday. Second, for practice today after school, we are in a holding pattern with smoke here in Dillon. As the day goes on, we will make a determination with practice depending on smoke levels.

Due to poor air quality, 6th-8th grade cross country practice has been canceled today. In addition, 8th grade football has been canceled today. The 7th grade football team will have practice inside the DMS gym today.
The DMS 7th and 8th grade volleyball tournament scheduled at Clancy on Saturday, September 28th has been cancelled.
DMS Orientation for new students and incoming 6th graders is scheduled for Monday, August 19th at 7:00 pm in the DMS Gym. For returning 7th and 8th graders, orientation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 20th at 7:00 pm in the DMS Gym. We ask that the student and at least one parent attend their scheduled night of orientation. Parents, if you have children that fit into both nights, please just pick one night to attend with your children. At orientation, students will get their schedules, locker assignments, and learn more about the upcoming school year.
DMS fall activities (7th-8th grade volleyball, 7th-8th grade football, and 6th-8th grade cross country) start on Monday, August 26th at 3:45 pm in the DMS gym. There is also a fall activity parent meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 27th at 5:30 pm in the DMS Gym for those participating in fall activities. As a reminder, DMS does not offer football for 6th graders and 6th grade volleyball will not begin until Monday, September 9th. Any student who will be doing activities throughout the school year must complete the online DMS Activities Form AND turn in a copy of a physical they have received from a doctor to the DMS office before they can compete.
Dillon Middle School Office hours for June 4th - 6th are 8 am-4 pm. The DMS office will be closed on Friday, June 7th. The DMS office is closing for the summer on June 10th at 4pm. Please stop by to pick up any belongings left behind/ pay lunch fees or library fines. The office opens up again August 12th.
The DMS fall orientations are scheduled for August 19th and 20th at 7:00 pm in the DMS Gym. August 19th is designated for new students and incoming 6th graders while August 20th is designated for returning 7th and 8th students. We ask that at least one parent attend with their student on their designated orientation night. If you have students that fit into both nights, please just pick one night to attend. The orientation will be about 45 minutes long and students will get their schedules and locker assignments this night.
